Conservatism

In my last post I said I'd break things down in ideology's instead of political parties. I wanted to do it this way to show that the ideology is a lot different than the mission or goals that back it. You can say you want to end world hunger by growing more corn and that sound great but if what's backing it is forced labor then the greatness of the idea changes. The English language is good at making things that are supposed to make perfect sense confusing as hell.

I'd suppose I'm starting this in "Chinese Writing" form since I'm starting with the right and working my way left but it's easier to write about what's closer to you than whats farther away.

Conservatism is like any other "ism" its a philosophy or ideology. It's not a party platform any more than speaking in tongue's is something that you'll see your average Methodist doing on Sundays. All "isms" get twisted and contorted to meet the needs of whoever pushing them.

George Bush says he's a Conservative, but he's "compassionate." Well if that's the case, I'd like him more if he were a cold hearted bastard who beat puppies with kittens.

John McCain has described himself as a Moderate Conservative. Apparently, he wasn't at the meeting when Rove and Scooter decided that the word they were going to use was "Compassionate." Granted, in pure economic terms McCain would spend less money than Bush but the areas he'd spend the most would be just as stupid as Dub'ya's. The war on terror and the war on global warming. Hell at this point, we need a war on people who like to declare war on things.

See the difference? Everywhere you look there's a different spin on the word Conservative.

But Conservatism has remained rather static over the years. The same is true for Socialism. "Moderate ism" is new but still the same as every other "All is Well" philosophy. Libertarianism is both old and new. It's old because it's what this country was founded on. Libertarianism is also new because most folks are too stupid to know what this country was founded on in the first place.

So here are some bullet points about the Conservatism Ideology:

Conservatism says that you shouldn't spend more than you make. That's a novel idea considering the morons who claim to be conservative whilst spending Billions more than we could ever take in.

Conservatism says that certain things are good for everyone, certain things are good for some and certain things are good for no one. Prohibition is a good example. It wasn't good for anyone so we outlawed it but what ended up being worse were the bullets from Tommy Guns and mobsters running our police departments so now it's only good for some folks-- those who are over 21. I'd like to see this explained logically to a 19 year old who just got back from playing police officer in Iraq for 18 months.

Conservatism says that money isn't the root of all evil but rather the hatred of money is the root of all evil. That makes the most sense of everything thus far...

Conservatism says that all are equal in the eyes of the Lord provided they agree to affirm that said Lord has said power to make said person equal. And you better be clear on which lord that is or you'll be subject to any number of unspeakable acts. None the least of which is being reduced to a third party supporter who can't get a city councilman elected, much less a president.

Conservatism says that we should be praying before we start a government meeting. I'd be fine with that provided we allowed every religion to open that meeting with it's own prayer but those meetings start at like 7pm and there are a lot of religions around here so perhaps for the sake of brevity, we should just forgo the whole thing. But if you wanted to start a meeting of say five thousand folks who were all Baptists then what's the harm so I could go either way on this one.

Conservatism says that the all mighty dollar isn't "all" but it's still pretty damned "mighty."
Hell, I'll buy that...

Conservatism says the folks are the result of their choices and that no one cares about folks who make bad choices. Socialists gain seats in congress for some reason every time this comes up...

Conservatism says that governments should be smaller. They've never been good at pointing out exactly what size it should be, but it's too big...

Conservatism's done a pretty good job proving that Socialism is bad but it's done a sub-par job of proving why Conservatism is good.

Conservatives love to share these principles with anyone who will listen. They are pretty sure they've got everything right so it's their job to share it with the world. By force if necessary...

Religious conservatives are good at getting all huffy and animated and bludgeoning their party and political leaders with the baseball bats that are re-election threats if and when they don't tow the line on Gay Marriage and Abortion.

There are millions of types of conservatives; each one taking it's own portions from the main doctrine and leaving the rest on the shelf. Each "sect" using what it likes and ignoring what it doesn't, kind of like a modern religion. But the difference between Conservatism and Socialism is that Conservatism needs a parent religion these days that's an actual religion like Christianity or Common Sense. The two are separate but equal. In socialism; the socialism is the politics and the religion wrapped all into one so no separate religion is needed--and for that matter nor is any common sense.

There you have it: The Conservative Gospel according to me!

Where am I???

Well, It's election season again(in case you've been under a rock lately) and as usual, I find myself at a loss for a viable candidate.

The war between the Democrats wages on and the Republican's gave up months ago. Either way, it's looking less and less like something my principles will enjoy when I walk into that voting booth on the second Tuesday in November.

I've been asked about my principles and where I fit in the political puzzle and I've never really thought of that before so I thought I'd lay things out nicely for the interested folks.

I've been a registered Republican since the day I turned eighteen. I was raised a republican from birth to age 13. At age thirteen I went through the same pubescent phase everyone goes through where I began the doubt everything that I was ever told and then to just assume that my parents were morons. At about age 17 when I was being told how stupid I was for the nine hundreth time I realized that maybe my parents weren't quite as dumb as I once thought and things began to make more sense. I began researching my ideologies and comparing what I had been taught versus what my democrat family members were always saying. Even at the tender and stupid age of eighteen, I realized that the whining and sniveling about all the downtrodden souls was really pathetic so I went with my gut and declared myself a Republican.

I was raised by religious conservatives so that didn't jibe with what I had always felt. Being raised a religious conservative is a little like being raised a vegetarian. You know that there are things out there that taste better than Tofurkey but you better keep shoveling it in lest you be found out of favor and forced to eat plain Tofu. So the idea of forcing my muslim and hindu friends to pray to Jesus wasn't sitting well with my principles.

At age 19 I started looking at the Libertarian party who was still in its infancy from what I could tell. Hell, it's been 10 years and they're still in there infancy so I guess keeping the "R" next to my name wasn't such a bad choice. When I was a cop I spent an inordinate amount of time arresting folks for getting high or selling that which gets others high. I also spent an even more inordinate amount of time re-arresting them and still even more time re-re-arresting them so the idea of prohibiting folks from the free market didn't make much sense either. But then again neither does most of the modern "moral compass" that leads the "Falwell Followers" in the Republican party. Still I've remained a Republican and just ignored the more idiotic members like most democrats ignore Dennis Kucinich.

So I'm not a conservative by most standards but I'm also not a liberal by almost any standards so where does that put me??? And no, it doesn't make me a moderate either because the "I'm OK, You're OK" ideology is for retarded folks.

Well, I'll stop talking about titles and parties and just focus on philosophies:

On the Right is Conservatism. On the left is Socialism in the center is Moderatism and somewhere north or south of all of those is Libertarianism.

In the coming day's I'll break each one of these down as I see them and tell you what exactly Libertarianism is and why it's so damned appealing to folks who are in all three of the previous categories and why I subscribe to it over any letter that appears next to any politicians name on CSPAN.

Liberals: The bastion of free speech(when it agrees with them)

Well it hasn't taken all that long to finally get down to the bottom of the Obamessiahs "fix it all in a day" plan. It's good old fashioned Marxism boiled down and sweetened with sugar and a touch of molasses.

It's easy enough to find out what's really going on if you do some research into Obama's background. This poor man ideology doesn't play too well against a multi million dollar tax return much less 4 of them. His wife's quarter million dollar salary at the hospital seems rather hypocritical when you compare his assault on the health care system here in America.

But mind you, none of this information is up for discussion with an Obama-head. Bring these things up and you get dead silence. Bring up his pastor of the past 20 years and you get canned responses, usually from some Obama-lover's website. Bring up is "gun toting-religion clinging" remarks and it's just a mis speak, no big deal.

It's an Officer Barbrady "move along people, nothing to see here" thing.

I've asked basic questions about Obama's plans for our future (or future demise) from about 20 of his most ardent supporters and thus far here's what I can tell you.

He'll end the war in Iraq (but leave a "strike force of unknown size in place)

He'll tax the rich (no definitive answer to who the rich are)

He'll fix everything (no definitive answer to what everything is)

He'll change and bring hope (no answer as to what he'll change or who or what hope is)

Being an inquisitive sum-bitch I've asked them to expound and thus gotten ZERO responses.

When I've informed them that the answers they've given me don't suffice or don't change from what Hillary, Edwards or Biden have said all i've gotten was silence.

Here's what I've determined: The average Obama head is Dumb. Dumb enough to not understand basic foreign policy, basic economics and basic human common sense.

It's for this reason they can't define or defend his ideas, whatever they may be.

So their silence, refusal to post comments I write or respond to e-mails I write doesn't mean they're arrogant, it just means they're simple minded.

But that's becoming the norm in this country. If that doesn't scare the living hell out of you, you're probably an Obama-head too...

Bueller??... Bueller??

Or, like Ben Stein also remarked in monotone genius: Anyone???....Anyone???...

That's the question I'm still asking to all the Obama heads in "Blogville" I've been asking it for at least a month and still no difinitive answers.

All I've asked is for some specific policies and positions that don't include the words Change, Hope or Bush and Iraq.

Despite 100 hits or so to my open thread on this topic; there are no takers as yet to explain anything. It's getting comical but also sad; and very scary that a person this ambiguous can get this much love and attention.

It kind of reminds me of my old post "Are Democrat's Useful Idiots?"

Sure, I've gotten my fair share of canned responses from various hacks and blind followers but these responses differ none from any of the other candidates who've run in the past 20 years.

I've heard the ramblings of kook's who claim that the "Obamessiah" will revamp the lobbiests in DC and how he's never taken a dime from them but then there's the pesky contributions from lawyers who represent the lobbiests. Nowhere in any of his claims has he ever disavowed the 6 degrees of seperation from these lobbiests he claims to hate but that's by design; and straight out of the Bill Clinton Playbook!

Then there's his Pastor: Of course he disavows believing any of what his spiritual mentor taught him for 20 years but that just suceeds in making him look so stupid as to not understand what his pastor was talking about.

I guess my old post is proving itself true or something. I used to have hope that Obama could do some good. But that hope has been reduced to the same cynisism that I've held for the Democrats for years now.

I guess the Bible was right after all: "There is nothing new under the sun..."
